Food is a major component of Thanksgiving day, which means the days after this holiday are a good time to pivot from eating to exercise.
People who want to combine nature viewing with some physical activity should plan on going on the Missouri Department of Conservation’s “Walk Off That Turkey” hike from 10-11 a.m. on Nov. 28 at MDC’s Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery’s Conservation Center. The Conservation Center is part of MDC’s Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery and is located at 483 Hatchery Road in Branson.
At this event, people can enjoy a guided one-mile hike along the north side of Lake Taneycomo. MDC staff will serve up some facts about Missouri’s wild turkey population and about other wildlife that can be seen along this popular reservoir. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather and bring binoculars. Hikers will meet outside of the Conservation Center building.
This guided hiking event is limited to 10 people. Hikers will be asked to social distance and to bring a mask for times when social distancing may not be possible.
