JOPLIN, Mo. – A church in Joplin wanted to show their giving spirit ahead of Thanksgiving, passing out “Blessing Baskets’ to families in need on Sunday.

Celebration Church says the need is great this year.

Each basket comes with ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner classics like stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls and more.

People reserved their baskets ahead of time and met with church members who prayed with families before passing out the baskets along with turkey and pie.

“We call it ‘Blessing Baskets’ because we want people to be encouraged and strengthened through hope…we’re a community that loves them. We don’t judge them and we care about them,” said Brandon Dorris with Celebration Church.

Volunteers distributed 100 baskets in total, their biggest haul yet.
