Springfield police are investigating a fatal shooting at the Economy Inn.

Springfield police say one person is dead and one person has been arrested following a homicide Friday morning at a northside motel.

The Springfield Police Department said in a news release that officers were dispatched to the Economy Inn on North Glenstone Avenue just before 8 a.m. where they found 37-year-old Billy G. Glass III shot to death outside of one of the rooms.

The release says that during the day on Friday, police quickly identified and arrested a suspect — Troy Jones, 43, of Springfield.

Police said Friday afternoon that Jones had been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and the case would be presented to prosecutors for formal charges.
