Edna Krog, 95, of Girard died at 7:19 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2020 in the WestRidge Retirement Community in Girard.
Edna was born on August 10, 1925 to Everett and Effie Wilson at the family home near Hepler, KS. She attended rural grade schools graduating from Hepler High School in 1943. She attended Pittsburg Teacher’s College (now Pittsburg State University) where she obtained a teaching certificate. She taught school for two years in a one room school and worked two years in the office of the Santa Fe Railroad in Wichita, KS during the war. She married Raymond Krog on December 28, 1943 in Girard, KS.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Girard being baptized in March 1939. She was a member of the Loyal Bereans Sunday School class and the Tillery Mission group. She was a past member of the Jolly Homemakers Extension Club. She was a 4-H project leader for clothing and food projects for the Jolly Jayhawks 4-H Club. She loved to play cards with friends and was a member of the Euchre Club and Pitch Clubs. She loved to read, sew, garden and do crossword puzzles. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and keeping up with all their activities.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (February 1, 2000); her parents Everett and Effie Wilson; her brothers William (Bill), Riley and Ira; sister-in-laws: Wanda Wilson, Marie Krog, Ruby Krog, and Lena Thompson and brother-in-law, Melvin Thompson. She is survived by her children: Marsha (Jerry Fischer) Vance of Omaha, NE; Lena (Doug) Mays of Topeka, KS and Leonard Krog of Girard, KS; six grandchildren: Jessica Mays, Aaron (Tara) Mays of Topeka, KS; Sherri Vance, Jeremy Vance, Rusty (Jamie) Vance of Omaha, NE and Eric Vance and fiancee, Kate Dent of Girard, KS and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Arleen Wilson of Iola; sister-in-law Alice (Jack) Nelson of Girard and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Girard Cemetery with Chaplain Randy Bauman officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to the First Christian Church of Girard or the GMA Community Food Pantry of Girard and these may be left at the funeral home, 518 W. John, Box 258, Girard 66743.
