The Early Bird registration for the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5k ends Friday.
The 26th annual event looks different this year, due to the pandemic, but the tradition remains to complete a brisk run or walk at the location of your choice from Nov. 26 through Nov. 29, according to a news release from the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
Early registration is $20 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. After Nov. 20, registration is $30 for adults and $25 for children. Register at ParkBoard.org/TurkeyTrot.
Participants may complete a 5k over Thanksgiving weekend, alone or with friends and family. Registration includes a long-sleeved Turkey Trot t-shirt and commemorative race bib. They may choose their own route, time themselves and upload race times and photos for the chance to win contests and prizes.

All race times and photos must be submitted by midnight on Nov. 29, at ParkBoard.org/TurkeyTrot.
Packets may be picked up during a drive-thru event from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 25 at Killian Sports Complex. Folks may also register on site and drop off food donations for Ozarks Food Harvest. The Park Board is also collecting food donations in barrels placed at multiple parks facilities.
Proceeds from Turkey Trot benefit the Developmental Center of the Ozarks and the Park Board’s Youth Recreation Scholarship Fund.
