WASHINGTON,D.C. – Officials around the country are sounding the alarm about the latest coronavirus surge. A record 73-thousand people were hospitalized with COVID-19 on Tuesday. More cities and states are limiting indoor gatherings and enacting stricter rules for wearing masks and social distancing.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Mercy and Freeman officials say they’re becoming overwhelmed with covid-19 patients. Now health officials are calling on city leaders for a mask mandate to try to get things under control. The Jasper County Health Department says that in the past seven days, they’ve averaged 81 new cases per day and yesterday the county reported five more deaths. Based on data and hospital resources, experts say something has to change, especially with holidays approaching.

JEFFERSON, Mo. – Some Missouri legislators want to extend covid-19 liability protections. If passed, the bill would protect health care providers from lawsuits unless there is malicious or intentional misconduct. It would also shield businesses and product manufacturers from claims, unless a plaintiff can prove the company had knowledge a product was defective.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump has fired the official who oversaw national election security. Christopher Krebs headed the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency which last week called the 2020 election “the most secure in American history.” Krebs responded to his dismissal in a Tweet, writing, quote: “Honored to serve. We did it right.”
