Pastor Jimmie Copley, 77, of Monett, MO, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, while at Cox South Medical Center following complications from COVID-19.
Jimmie was born on September 25, 1943 in Springfield, MO, son of the late Larry Alfred Copley and Katherine (Reynolds) Copley. Growing up in Monett, Jimmie graduated from Monett High School with the Class of 1961. Following his education, Jimmie went on to work at Jumping Jacks Shoe Factory in Monett for 28 Years.
In 1980, Jimmie dedicated his life to serving God. He has been the Pastor at Chapel of Grace Church in Monett since 1983. During his years as a servant of God, Jimmie has brought the word of God to thousands of soon to be Christians, conducted countless weddings and officiated funerals for hundreds of the dearly departed. None of these were done with the expectation of recognition, they were done with the kind and loving heart that he had.
Jimmie was united in marriage to Janet Sue Smith on June 20 in 1969. They have been blessed with over 51 years spent together, making wonderful memories.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Janet, of the home; his children, Lavonna Arndt of Monett, Kim and her husband John Young of Monett; Shane and his wife, Wendy, of Mt Vernon; his grandchildren; Kayla and Chris Long, Kendal and Jennifer Arndt, Keshia and Miles Edge, Eric Young, Kenzee Arndt, Madalynn, Adrik, Brinley, Draydn, and Trevin Copley; as well as great-grandchildren; Maverick and Marshall Arndt, Adeline, Azaylee and Rehlin Long and Riley Edge.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; Larry and Katherine Copley, Sister, Carolyn Eppler, stepbrother Eddie Copley and several other loving family members.
Visitation for Pastor Copley will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Chapel of Grace Church, 1153 Farm Road 1060 Monett on Friday, November 20, 2020. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM at Chapel of Grace Church on Saturday, November 21. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Pastor Doug Williams will be officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Jimmie can be made to Janet Copley in care of the funeral home. It is requested to all in attendance to please wear a mask and social distance as best as possible. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
