Willard Police Chief Tom McClain said Monday morning that no arrests had been made in a double homicide over the weekend, but he feels good about the progress his detectives have made in the investigation.

McClain said officers were dispatched Saturday morning to a home near Mill Street and Main Street where they found the residents — Alex Chute, 28, and Brianna Sproul, 30 — shot to death on the front porch.

McClain said the deaths are not believed to be a murder-suicide, and that Chute and Sproul were killed by a third party.

On Monday morning, McClain said it would be inappropriate to comment on a possible motive in the case.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Willard Police Department at 417-742-5341.
