Mrs. Theao A. Cook, 93, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Monday evening, November 9, 2020, at Communities of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin.

Theao entered this life on October 29, 1927, in Wentworth, Missouri, one of three children born to the late Henry Earl and Beryl Marie (Dreibelbis) Hagebusch. She was raised in the Wentworth area and was a graduated of Pierce City High School. On June 13, 1948, at Freistatt Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to John Cook and to this union twin sons were born, Michael and Mitchell. In 1950, they moved their family to Kansas City where Theao worked at Hallmark Cards and The United Farm Realty Agency. They left Kansas City in 1968 and relocated to Joplin. In 1971, Theao made the decision to go back to school and pursue a teaching degree. She received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Missouri Southern State College and her Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Pittsburg State University. She taught in the Joplin R-8 School District for twenty years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Retired Teachers Association and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed reading, baking and spending time fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of seventy-one years, John Cook on September 15, 2019; and two siblings, Earl Wayne Hagebusch and Flossie Arnold.

Theao is survived by her two sons, Michael J. Cook and wife, Brenda, of Carl Junction and Mitchell J. Cook and wife, Sabrina, of Joplin; five grandchildren, Shane Cook, Trampes Cook, Shannon Irwin, Brandee Read and Brandy Blakesley; five great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Carl Junction Cemetery with Pastor Gregory Mech officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Shane Cook, Trampes Cook, Russell Cook, Kyler Dunham, Kenny Owen and Gary Barnes. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
