Recent rains have helped out
While it was nice to see one cold front bring in rain and t-storms for Tuesday morning and early Tuesday afternoon, much of the area still remains under some form of a drought. While northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas is looking okay, we have dry conditions covering much of southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri. A few pockets of moderate are present across Coffey, Anderson and Linn counties in Kansas and parts of Jasper, Lawrence, Dade and Barton counties in Missouri. Before we look at a mainly dry spell for next week, our next storm system working in late tonight and for Saturday could bring another quarter to three-quarters of an inch across the area. We’ll see if that can prevent the drought from worsening by the time a new update on the Drought Tracker comes next Thursday morning.
