Surrounded by her loving family, Margaret C. “Colene” Hoobler, 83, of Oswego, Kansas, passed away at 11:04 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Margaret Colene Barker was born on December 11, 1936, to Kay and Beulah (Vance) Barker in Oswego, Kansas. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Oswego, graduating from Oswego High School in 1954.
During her employment years, Colene worked at the Labette County Courthouse, Realty Inc., and Twin Valley Electric. In their retirement, the couple traveled with an RV home mission group, Missions America Placement Service (MAPS). They traveled the United States building churches and Teen Challenge Centers for 15 years.
Colene was an active member of the Oswego Assembly of God Church. Dedicated to sharing God’s Word, she taught Sunday School classes, worked with the Missionette program and led women’s groups. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved taking daily walks and visiting with all of her friends and neighbors. Her other interests included quilting, baking and reading.
On February 5, 1955, Colene and Marvin Hoobler were united in marriage at the Assembly of God parsonage in Oswego. Just this past year, the couple celebrated their 65th anniversary. Mr. Hoobler survives of the home.

Five grandchildren – Jennifer Manahan, Kelli Higgins, Quin Addis, Trevor Willems, and Darci Kwiat
Three great-grandchildren – Gage Winters, Anderson Higgins, and Ellison Higgins
There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in rural Oswego.
