How to participate in a Springfield survey about race, policing

The city of Springfield is launching a survey about opinions on public safety, law enforcement and race relations.

In the coming weeks, adults across the city will receive a survey in the mail and be asked to complete it and mail it back in a prepaid envelope by Nov. 28.

That questionnaire will be sent to local research company Opinion Research Specialists LLC, which will collect and analyze the results as part of an effort to understand and improve race relations and policing in the city.

The information provided on the questionnaire is completely anonymous and will not reveal the identity of the household.

“Participation is very important,” said Springfield City Manager Jason Gage in a news release. “We will present the findings of this survey, along with the feedback, to city council.”
