20th Street bridge in Joplin closed after fatal crash

JOPLIN, Mo. – After a fatal head-on crash, the 20th Street bridge in Joplin is closed.

The crash happened shortly before noon today, Nov. 4, 2020. The bridge is near the Joplin High School.

According to Joplin Police Department Captain William Davis, a 31-year-old woman was driving west when she crossed the center line and hit a Joplin school district van head-on.

Davis says the 31-year-old died at the scene. EMS took a passenger to a local hospital.

The driver of the van was also taken to the hospital. There were not students in the van.
