Nixa police say group stole 36 political signs from front yards

Nixa police said Tuesday they detained three people for allegedly stealing 36 political signs out of people’s front yards.

According to a news release from the city, Nixa police were alerted at 12:16 a.m. Tuesday that a group of people in a white SUV was stealing political signs out of yards near Glacier Court and Parkmore Heights.

The release says an officer spotted the SUV in the area and followed it to a Nixa home, where officers recovered the three-dozen stolen signs.

As of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police had returned seven signs to their owners. The remaining signs are being held at police headquarters, and victims can retrieve them by calling 417-582-1030.

Police say the three suspects could face stealing charges in municipal court. Their names have not yet been released.

Based on a photo provided by the city of Nixa, most of the stolen signs appeared to support Joe Biden for president.
