VERNON COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities say the victim in a Vernon County, Missouri homicide is 63-year-old Connie J. Goodwin. Her son, 38-year-old Aaron Goodwin, is wanted in connection to her death for felony abandonment of a corpse.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office says it’s believed that Aaron is in the Hot Springs, Arkansas area. Anyone with information on his whereabouts  can contact their communications center at 417-667-6042. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous.

On October 28, 2020, the Hot Springs Police Department found evidence in a black trash bag in the back of a pickup truck at a Walmart. Officers looked at surveillance video that the bag was put in the truck at a nearby hotel the night before by an unknown individual.

They later learned the evidence was connected to a homicide in Vernon County.

Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher says a body was found on October 28 at a home on Quail Road in the southwest area of Vernon County near the Kansas state line. The Vernon County coroner says the body, later identified as Connie Goodwin, was sent to Ozark, Missouri for autopsy.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office has requested assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Bates County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing investigation.
