He will retire as president on July 1.
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis has announced plans to retire at the end of the current academic year. Hargis, who is 74, announced Friday that he will retire as president on July 1 after 13 years as president of OSU. OSU/A&M Board of Regents Chair Rick Davis praised Hargis and said a national search will be conducted for the university’s next president. Hargis was an Oklahoma banker and lawyer and when he was named president of OSU in 2008 after resigning from the board of regents to seek the presidency of the university following the resignation of David Schmidly.
