Child On Cemetery Tour In Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – Volunteers are bringing the Peace Church Cemetery in Joplin back to life.

As one of the oldest church yards in Jasper County, the grounds are rich in history.

While the church is no longer standing, the Peace Church Cemetery Historical Society is doing its part to educate the public by hosting a tour on Saturday and telling stories of some of those who are buried there.

The group also unveiled a gravestone for a solider buried without a headstone.

With the help of websites like findagrave.com and records found from years ago, all sorts of people buried at the Peace Church Cemetery are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
