JOPLIN, Mo. – The pandemic forced some businesses to close and those now include the Kaleidoscope Academy and Clinic in Joplin. Kaleidoscope was a place where children with autism and others with differing abilities could get an education and therapy work. The school was able to hold a couple of summer school sessions but the academy was open for only about a month in august before it was shut down. The school says the pandemic played a huge role in the closure.

CARTHAGE, Mo. – Carthage police identify the victim of a Tuesday night homicide. Authorities say the victim is 30-year-old John Morgan of Carthage. Officers found his body in an alley on the 100 block of North Garrison street while responding to a call about gunshots. Police have taken a suspect into custody and are awaiting formal charges from the Jasper County Prosecutors office. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident between people who knew each other.

WASHINGTON – The Senate Judiciary Committee wrapped up two days of questioning Supreme Court Nominee Amy Coney Barrett. Amid skepticism from Democrats, Barrett did not say how she would rule on major issues such as abortion and healthcare. A committee vote on her nomination is scheduled for today. Democrats are expected to request a “hold” which would push that vote to next week.
