Child shot in St. Louis Wednesday afternoon

ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating after an 11-year-old girl was shot in north St. Louis Wednesday afternoon.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the 1300 block of N. Garrison Avenue, which is in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood, around 4:50 p.m. There was a large police presence at an apartment building.

An 11-year-old girl was found inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm. 

A 10-year-old boy, 12-year-old boy, 51-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy were all inside the residence at the time of the shooting, but were not injured. The 11-year-old was transported to a hospital where her condition is not available, but according to the police report, her vitals were stable.

As of Jan. 1, there have been 107 people ranging in age from as young as 1 to 17 years old shot in the City of St. Louis. Of those shootings, 18 were fatal.
