Huston Cordell Sims Jr., 91 of Girard, passed away at 4:01 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Westridge Assisted Living of Girard.

Huston was born March 25, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Huston Cordell and Fannie (Cheney)Sims.After attending public schools and Girard High School up to his junior year, Huston later earned his G.E.D. in 1975.
On June 27, 1947, Huston and Ruth Ashmore were united in marriage in Wichita, she survives of the home. Huston and Ruth enjoyed a happy and loving marriage for over 73 years
Huston worked for Helio Aircraft of Pittsburg in the maintenance department and then for Pittsburg State University in the maintenance department.
He enjoyed football, camping, golf, watch repair and working on anything mechanical.
Huston was a member of the Girard Bible Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife are two daughters: Terri Harley and her husband Maurice of Girard, Debra Sims of Girard, two grandchildren, Cordell Harley and his wife Naamah, Seth Harley and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kay Sims. One granddaughter, Melisa Harley, two sisters, Lorene Burge, and Nadine Kinion.
Graveside Services for Huston Cordell Sims Jr. will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at the Girard Cemetery with Pastor Noah Hartmetz officiating, burial to follow in the Girard Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home after 2:00 p.m., Tuesday. Ruth will be available for a porch visit at the Westridge Assisted Living Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
Memorials are suggested to the Girard Bible Church or to Harry Hynes Hospice and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home or mailed to the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W. St. John P.O. Box 258 Girard, Kansas 66743.
