After weeks of many Americans failing to heed face mask and social distancing guidelines, health officials in some states are reporting an increase in younger populations testing positive.
The Greene County Commission on Thursday, Oct. 8, announced COVID-19 relief grants to 20 small businesses, ranging from $15,000 to the owner of two bowling alleys to $3,500 to the owner of a salon.
The $119,317.50 comes from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump on March 27.
The Greene County CARES Act Citizens Advisory Committee — a 30-member volunteer group — meets in subcommittees to review applications by categories.
Once reviewed, the subcommittee recommendations are taken to the full Advisory Council for a vote and then passed to the Greene County Commission for final approval.
Applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis.
