A quieter look to the Tropics
After dealing with Beta along the Gulf, Teddy in the Northern Atlantic and Paulette in the Eastern Atlantic to start this week, we’re seeing a quieter look to the Tropics. In the Atlantic, no active systems are present and no development is expected over the next 5 days. In the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Storm Lowell continues to turn more westerly as it sits 830 miles west of the Baja Peninsula. It seems to have peaked in intensity earlier today with wind speeds at 50 mph. The latest advisory has maximum winds at 45 mph as it moves to the west-northwest at 12 mph. After maintaining tropical storm strength for Thursday, it will weaken back into a depression on Friday. The expectation is for Lowell to dissipate to the east of Hawaii by early next week. Otherwise, we don’t see any other systems developing in the Eastern Pacific over the next 5 days.
