ST. LOUIS — Police said a man was shot in the head and killed while trying to burglarize a south St. Louis home Monday morning.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers were called to a home on the 5200 block of Parker Avenue at around 5:15 for a report of a burglary and shooting. When they arrived, they found 30-year-old James Pace Jr. with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Pace was listed as “Victim/Offender” on the police report, which listed the incident as a homicide, burglary and fourth-degree assault.
Police said a 71-year-old man was the victim of the attempted burglary but did not say if he was the shooter. The police report said he suffered minor injuries.
No other information about the shooting was provided.
