ST. LOUIS — An officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department was shot late Sunday night while working secondary in downtown St. Louis overnight.
The shooting happened shortly before midnight in the area of North 10th Street and Convention Plaza, north of the America’s Center Convention Complex.
The officer was conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital. No further information on the officer’s condition or the circumstances of the shooting was made available.
An area near the convention center was taped off early Monday morning and several officers were seen walking around with flashlights as they investigated.
A 5 On Your Side photojournalist saw several evidence markers on the ground.
The department was expected to provide an update early Monday morning outside Barnes Jewish Hospital, where the officer was taken by ambulance.
