9th Annual Commerce Days goes on amid COVID-19 pandemic

COMMERCE, Okla. – The 9th Annual Commerce Days Festival is in full swing with day two Friday night at Commerce High School. It’s the first carnival in the state of Oklahoma since the COVID-19 pandemic started, so it’s a cause for excitement.

Several precautions have been put in place to ensure the safety of the community. Carnival rides were filled at half capacity for social distancing and hand sanitizer was made readily available as well as stand-alone hand washing stations. Carnival goers are well aware that social distancing is still important when trying to have fun.

“So many people’s been cooped up, you know. And locked up inside for 8 weeks or so and they haven’t had a chance to get out and this is an opportunity for them to get out. And we’re trying to do our best on the social distancing for everybody,” says Commerce Days Festival MC, James Richardson.

The final day of the Commerce Days Festival is tomorrow. Kids events kick off at 9:30 am.
