Springfield firefighters worked to put out a blaze Tuesday morning in the downtown area.

Crews were stationed at the former Touché bar on Boonville Avenue.

Chief David Pennington said that they believe the building is vacant. All firefighters are accounted for.

He added that Boonville will be shut down for some time and crews will probably be on scene most of the day.

According to a person at the scene who claimed to own the building, it was scheduled to be demolished in about three months. The property has been planned as part of an IDEA Commons expansion given that it’s across the street from the Jordan Valley Innovation Center.

The News-Leader will provide more information when it’s available.
