KANSAS – Churches and funerals are now limited to 10 people or less at a time in Kansas.

In a briefing today, April 7, 2020, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said at least three instances of COVID-19 community spread have happened in connection with religious gatherings. Governor Kelly says this comprises 25% of the clusters being tracked by KDHE.

Today, she passed an executive order extending a previous order temporarily limiting mass gatherings to include churches, or other religious facilities, and funerals or memorial services. Now, these gatherings are limited to 10 people or less at a time.

The decision was made in consultation with the state’s emergency management team, the state health department and local leaders, according to Kelly.

The Governor clarifies that this does not ban the gatherings from taking place, they just need to be limited to ten people at a time.
