Man shot and killed in Granite City neighborhood

GRANITE CITY, Ill. — A man was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Granite City.

At around midnight, officers were called to the 2200 block of Benton Street for shots being fired. When officers arrived, they found a man dead with gunshot wounds.

The initial investigation led Granite City police to St. Louis. With the help of St. Louis police, officers took two people into custody. They are not calling them suspects at this time, police are calling each of them a person of interest.

Granite City police said they are not looking for any additional suspects.

The name of the man who was killed and the two persons of interest have not been released.
