You can now drink some Buds with your buds when you attend Drury basketball games.
Drury University announced Tuesday it will begin the sale of Budweiser products to the general public at home basketball games for the remainder of the season, starting on Thursday.
Budweiser, Bud Lite and Michelob Ultra in 16-ounce aluminum bottles and cans will be offered to fans of legal drinking age at a designated location in the O’Reilly Family Event Center concourse for $5.
“We are excited about this opportunity to take advantage of a Great Lakes Valley Conference rule change that went in to effect this year,” Drury Vice President and Director of Athletics Corey Bray said in a news release. “Our partnership with Will Fischer Distributing and Budweiser will enhance the fan experience in the O’Reilly Family Event Center in addition to creating new revenue opportunities. It also helps us keep pace with the expectations of our fans as well as sports fans across the region.”
O’Reilly Family Event Center has offered beer and wine sales since the opening of the arena in 2010, but just to Drury’s exclusive booster club hospitality room and in luxury boxes. Concerts and other special events at O’Reilly have also featured alcohol sales.
Drury men’s and women’s basketball both play at home this week with games on Thursday and Saturday. Tipoff for the women’s game on Thursday is 5:45 p.m. while the men play at 7:45 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Panthers play at 1 p.m. followed by the men’s 3 p.m. game.
