Missouri News: AG Josh Hawley Urges Congress to Support Funding Under Violence Against Women Act



JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley today joined 55 state and territory attorneys general urging Congress to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) before it expires this year.

The attorneys general sent a letter to congressional leaders and the chairs of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees emphasizing the importance of VAWA and the necessary tools it makes available to female survivors of violence.

Under VAWA, originally passed in 1994, over $6 billion in grant funding has been awarded to government and nonprofit organizations nationwide.
